The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has affirmed QS Aminu Abubakar Suleiman, FNIQS, as its Senatorial Candidate for Kogi East ahead of the forthcoming general election in a peaceful and consensual affirmation exercise.

The event, which took place in Idah, attracted a large turnout of delegates, party stakeholders, youth groups, women leaders, and political associates from across the senatorial district.
Among notable stakeholders present at the exercise were Dr. SS Odoma, Hon. Yahaya Onakpa, Hon. Suleiman Agbonika, Kogi East ADC Chairman, and several political leaders and stakeholders from across the district.
A key highlight of the exercise was the voluntary withdrawal of the only other aspirant, Hajiya Habiba-Deen, who stepped down in the interest of party unity and declared her support for Suleiman. Her action was widely commended as a strong demonstration of political maturity and commitment to party cohesion.
Also present at the exercise was Joe Agada, who served as the Kogi East ADC Primary Observer.
In his acceptance speech, QS Aminu Abubakar Suleiman stated that his emergence belongs to the Igala and Bassa people, describing it as a collective mandate for unity, purposeful representation, and inclusive governance.
He outlined his legislative priorities to include the sponsorship of people-oriented bills, effective constituency engagement, strategic attraction of federal projects and infrastructure, youth and women empowerment, educational advancement, and equitable constituency development.
He further pledged to pursue issue-based politics focused on bridging ethnic, religious, and political divides across Kogi East while promoting sustainable development and quality representation.
The affirmation exercise ended with celebration, solidarity songs, and renewed commitment by party members and stakeholders to work for the victory of the ADC in the forthcoming general election.
