My Dear Igala/Bassa People,
Leadership is not measured by promises made during campaigns, but by the actions taken, the responsibilities fulfilled, and the results communicated to the people. True representation demands transparency, accountability, and a willingness to explain both progress made and challenges encountered.
For the people of Kogi East, representation must go beyond occupying a seat in the Senate. It must involve active legislative engagement, effective oversight, regular consultation, and a clear commitment to keeping constituents informed about the issues that affect their lives.
Under The People’s Mandate, accountability will be an essential part of my approach to responsive legislation. I believe that the people have the right to know what their representatives are doing, the issues they are pursuing, and the progress being made on matters affecting their communities.
As your Senator, I will work to communicate my legislative activities, including relevant motions, legislative proposals, committee engagements, oversight interventions, and policy initiatives. I will also encourage regular engagement with constituents to identify pressing concerns, receive feedback, and assess the progress of issues presented on their behalf.
Where federal programmes or projects affecting Kogi East encounter delays or implementation challenges, I will use the appropriate legislative mechanisms to seek explanations from responsible institutions, promote transparency, and pursue corrective action where necessary.
I will also provide honest updates on legislative efforts, recognising that some outcomes require collaboration with other lawmakers, executive institutions, and relevant levels of government. My responsibility will be to explain the process, document the progress, and remain answerable to the people.
Our people deserve representation they can question, evaluate, and trust. Accountability should not be an occasional exercise during elections; it should be a continuous obligation throughout a representative’s tenure.
Because when the people are informed, they are empowered to participate meaningfully in governance, evaluate performance, and demand better outcomes from public institutions.
This is what Responsive Legislation means: taking action, monitoring progress, communicating results, and remaining accountable to the people whose mandate we seek to uphold.
Transparent Representation. Measurable Progress. Accountable Leadership.
