DEKINA / ANYIGBA, Nigeria — May 30, 2026 — The African Democratic Congress (ADC) senatorial flag bearer for Kogi East, Aminu Abubakar Suleiman, on Saturday undertook a series of high-level consultation and solidarity visits across Dekina Local Government Area, intensifying political engagements ahead of the forthcoming electoral cycle.

Suleiman, a Quantity Surveyor and Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (FNIQS), led the outreach alongside Sheikh Ibrahim Jibrin, the ADC candidate for the Dekina/Bassa Federal Constituency. The engagements form part of ongoing efforts to deepen grassroots structures, strengthen internal cohesion, and expand dialogue with key traditional and political actors across Kogi East.

The delegation commenced its engagements with a courtesy visit to the palace of the Ejeh of Dekina, His Royal Majesty Dr. Usman Obaje, OON, where they sought royal blessings and held discussions on community development, peaceful coexistence, and the role of traditional institutions in strengthening governance and stability in the region.

During the visit, Suleiman emphasized the importance of sustained collaboration with traditional institutions, describing them as central to peacebuilding and community development.

«“Our royal fathers are the custodians of our heritage and indispensable partners in ensuring stability and development,” he said. “Any meaningful representation must be rooted in genuine consultation with stakeholders across all levels of society.”»

The Ejeh of Dekina offered his blessings to the delegation and commended the consultative approach, while urging continued commitment to peace, unity, and sustainable development across the region.

Following the royal engagement, the delegation proceeded to a combined stakeholders’ meeting involving ADC executives, party members, and supporters from both Dekina and Bassa Local Government Areas.

The meeting highlighted growing coordination within the party structure across the region. Hon. Husseini Ejini, the ADC Chairman for Dekina Local Government Area, noted that emerging political alignments, including the shared platform of key stakeholders such as Ahmed Attah under the ADC, were contributing to increased unity and political stability within the area.

According to him, this consolidation of interests is expected to strengthen the party’s grassroots appeal ahead of the official political season.

Also speaking, the ADC Chairman for Bassa Local Government Area, Hon. Momoh Francis, reaffirmed the readiness of the area’s political structure to support credible candidates committed to development-oriented leadership.

Addressing stakeholders, Suleiman outlined his long-term priorities for Kogi East, focusing on agricultural development, youth empowerment programmes, educational advancement, and broader economic inclusion initiatives aimed at improving livelihoods across the region.

In his remarks, Sheikh Ibrahim Jibrin presented his constituency development vision and commended Suleiman’s leadership qualities, describing him as a man of integrity who remains committed to his promises and consistent in his engagements with the people.

Following the stakeholders’ meeting in Dekina, the delegation proceeded to Anyigba, where they paid a courtesy visit to the palace of the Ogohi-Onu Anyigba, His Royal Highness Alhaji Abuh Shaibu Okolo.

The visit provided another opportunity for engagement with traditional leadership and community stakeholders. Suleiman reaffirmed his commitment to inclusive and people-centred leadership, while emphasizing the need for unity, peaceful coexistence, and collaborative development efforts across Kogi East.

The Ogohi-Onu Anyigba offered his royal blessings to the delegation and encouraged continued consultation with the people at the grassroots level.

Political observers note that the series of consultations reflects a strategic effort by Suleiman to consolidate grassroots networks and build broad-based consensus ahead of the formal electoral timetable, reinforcing internal party cohesion and stakeholder confidence.
