Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) are essential to economic growth, job creation and community development. Across Kogi East, thousands of people depend on small businesses, petty trading, agricultural enterprises, local production and other entrepreneurial activities to sustain their families and contribute to the local economy.
However, many of these businesses struggle with limited access to finance, inadequate business support, poor market access, rising operating costs and insufficient opportunities for expansion. For many entrepreneurs, the challenge is not a lack of ideas or willingness to work, but the absence of an enabling environment to turn their efforts into sustainable businesses.
Under my commitment to Inclusive Economic Opportunity, I believe that small businesses must receive greater attention in our economic development agenda.
My legislative priorities will include advocating policies and federal interventions that improve access to affordable financing, strengthen entrepreneurship development, expand business training and improve market access for local enterprises. I will also promote initiatives that encourage young entrepreneurs, women-owned businesses, traders, artisans and small-scale producers to grow beyond subsistence operations.
Through strategic engagement with relevant federal agencies, financial institutions, development partners and government programmes, I will work to connect eligible entrepreneurs in Kogi East with existing opportunities for business support and enterprise development.
My objective is to promote an environment where small businesses can grow, create employment, increase household income and contribute meaningfully to the economic prosperity of our communities.
I believe that when small businesses grow, families become stronger, communities become more productive and the economy becomes more resilient.
