QS Aminu Abubakar Suleiman, FNIQS
My Dear Igala/Bassa People,
The future of any society depends largely on the opportunities it creates for its young people today. A society that neglects its youth weakens its future, while one that invests in their talents, skills, creativity and enterprise builds a foundation for sustainable development.
Across Kogi East, many young people possess the energy, intelligence and determination to succeed, yet they face challenges ranging from unemployment and underemployment to limited access to vocational training, business financing and opportunities to develop their potential. These challenges require more than political promises; they demand deliberate policies, effective legislation and accountable institutions.
My commitment is to advocate policies that expand access to decent employment, technical and vocational education, digital skills, entrepreneurship development and relevant federal economic programmes. Through legislative initiatives, budget scrutiny, oversight and engagement with the appropriate institutions, I will work to ensure that the economic concerns of our young people receive sustained attention at the national level.
I will also advocate transparent and fair access to relevant enterprise support programmes so that young entrepreneurs with viable ideas can pursue opportunities without being unnecessarily disadvantaged by political connections or administrative barriers. Particular attention will be given to the potential of agriculture, technology, vocational enterprise and other productive sectors to create pathways for economic participation.
My Dear Igala/Bassa People, empowering our youth is not simply about preparing them for tomorrow; it is about recognising their contribution to our communities and expanding their capacity to participate meaningfully in the economy today. As a senator, I will use the instruments of legislation, representation and oversight to advocate policies that create an enabling environment for their progress, while holding the appropriate institutions accountable for the implementation of relevant programmes.
The objective is clear: to help build a future in which young people are not defined by unemployment or limited opportunities, but are empowered to develop their talents, build sustainable livelihoods and contribute to the prosperity of Kogi East.
Our youth are not merely the leaders of tomorrow; they are partners in building a better Kogi East today.
