The Senatorial Candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for Kogi East, QS Aminu Abubakar Suleiman, on Friday joined the Prime Minister and Achadu Oko-Ata of the Igala Kingdom, Alih Atama Yusuf Ameh Adaji, alongside the Chairman of Idah Local Government Area, Alhaji Alfa Halilu, and other Muslim faithful for the Eid el Kabir prayer held at the Ugwaja Prayer Ground in Idah, Kogi State.
The Eid prayer, which attracted a large gathering of worshippers from different parts of Idah and beyond, was presided over by the Chief Imam of Idah Local Government, Mallam Bature Yusuf Aminu.
In his sermon, the Chief Imam emphasized the virtues of sacrifice, obedience, unity, peace, humility, and love for humanity, noting that Eid el Kabir symbolizes total submission to the will of Almighty Allah as exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim.
Mallam Bature Yusuf Aminu called on political leaders, traditional rulers, and citizens to embrace justice, tolerance, compassion, and selfless service to humanity, stressing that the nation can only progress where leaders prioritize the welfare of the people above personal interests.
He further urged Nigerians to pray fervently for peace, stability, and economic recovery in the country, while encouraging the Muslim Ummah to sustain the lessons of the Sallah celebration beyond the festive period.
Speaking shortly after the prayers, QS Aminu Abubakar Suleiman congratulated the Muslim faithful and the entire people of Kogi East on witnessing another Eid el Kabir celebration.
He urged the people to continue to uphold the values of unity, peaceful coexistence, sacrifice, and mutual support, describing Kogi East as a land blessed with great people, rich cultural heritage, and enormous potential for development.
According to him, “Sallah reminds us of the importance of faith, sacrifice, compassion, and service to humanity. I urge our people to continue to live together in peace and love, irrespective of political, religious, or social differences. Together, we can build a stronger and more prosperous Kogi East.”
He prayed for Allah’s blessings, protection, and continuous peace upon the Igala Kingdom and the entire Kogi East Senatorial District as Muslims across the world celebrate Eid el Kabir.
